17/12/2010 Raidla Lejins & Norcous Riga office has become one of the first supporters to legal aid centre Pro Bono.
Legal aid center Pro Bono was founded on December 17, 2010. The center will gather applications from NGO's for free of charge legal advice.
Law offices LAWIN Klavins & Slaidins, Liepa, Skopina/Borenius, Raidla Lejins & Norcous and SORAINEN have signed pro bono declaration to support advocacy of human rights and public benefits in Latvia.
The legal aid center Pro Bono is a program by Ideju parteri fund, supported by Soros Foundation Latvia.
16/11/2010 NASDAQ OMX annual overview on the Baltic securities market
NASDAQ OMX has launched their annual overview on the Baltic securities market. The overview provides an insight to the market situation, investment possibilities and main developments, trading statistics and companies listed on the Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius stock exchange.
Traditionally, an overview of the taxation in the Baltic jurisdictions is prepared by Raidla Lejins & Norcous firms in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

IFLR1000, a publication focusing on the leading law firms for the corporate finance worldwide, has released its 2011 rankings. In line with the results of the previous 6 years "Raidla Lejins & Norcous [Riga office] continues its run in the top tier".
Financial law firm rankings are based on the recommendations of in-house counsel at the world's most prominent financial institutions and companies, the research covers more than 100 jurisdictions.

01/10/2010 The RoschierRaidla network sharpens its brand to RR Alliance
Roschier (Finland and Sweden) and Raidla Lejins & Norcous firms operating in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania announce the re-branding of the RoschierRaidla Nordic-Baltic network as a step in sharpening its brand. As of 1 October 2010, the combine will operate under the name RR Alliance ('Double R Alliance').
The RR Alliance, founded as the RoschierRaidla network in the spring of 2004, offers high quality integrated legal services in the Nordic-Baltic region specializing in demanding international business law assignments and large-scale transactions. During the past six years, the member firms have constantly developed their cooperation to be able to better serve their clients operating in the Baltic Sea region.

10/08/2010 Raidla Lejins & Norcous Summer Sports Event 2010
From 30 July to 1 August Raidla Lejins & Norcous 2nd Summer Sports Event took place at the seaside recreation center Roosta Holiday Village, Estonia. More than 75 staff members of Raidla Lejins & Norcous offices took part in the event.
The main idea of the event is team building of all three Raidla Lejins & Norcous Baltic offices. The wide program of various sport activities was based on physical exercises, as well as on inventiveness, logic and creativeness.
04/08/2010 Bloomberg: Raidla Lejins & Norcous law firm alliance – Fifth in Eastern Europe
According to data announced by Bloomberg news agency in July 2010, Raidla Lejins & Norcous law firm alliance is the fifth in terms of the number of advised M&A deals in the Eastern Europe.
The results are based on the data of M&A deals exceeding USD 5 million each during the first quarter of 2010.
RLN offices in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia acted as a counsel in 4 M&A deals (exceeding USD 5 million) during the first half of this year.

On April 29, 2010 The 5th RoschierRaidla Baltic Business Law Conference under the heading of Rebirth of Baltic M&A - the Driver of New Business Growth was held in Tallinn. Baltic Business Law Conference is an annual event that analyses developments in the economies and business sectors in the Nordic/Baltic region.

05/05/2010 2010 Central and Eastern European Moot Competition
On 1 and 2 May the 2010 Central and Eastern European Moot Competition took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. The University of Latvia team, coached by our associate Ugis Zeltins, obtained the second place. The competition is now in its sixteenth year, and is held under the auspices of the European Court of Justice and the Centre for European Legal Studies of the University of Cambridge.

On 15 April 2010 the annual RoschierRaidla Competition Law Seminar organized by Raidla Lejins & Norcous and entitled "Leniency Programme and Pricing and Other Decisions by Dominant Players" was held in Tallinn. Among the speakers at the seminar were Juhan Põldroos, Head of Supervisory Department of the Estonian Competition Authority and Kaarli Harry Eichhorn, Senior Counsel of General Electric Company (Brussels).
The Competition Law Seminar is an annual event that is organized each year by one of the RoschierRaidla law firms with an aim to hold a discussion on current competition law issues relevant for businesses. Next year's Competition Law Seminar will be held in Riga.

06/04/2010 Andra Rektina is doing 6-week secondment
Our associate Andra Rektina is doing 6-week secondment with Helsinki office of Roschier. Andra’s secondment is a part of RoschierRaidla secondment program within the framework of which during the last few years several dozen lawyers of RoschierRaidla have been seconded between the offices.
Raidla Lejins & Norcous lawyers Sandija Novicka, Martins Tarlaps and Ugis Zeltins participated with presentations in a seminar organized by the Latvian Judicial Training Centre for district and regional judges on competition law issues. The seminar was organized within the framework of project "Competition Law Training for the Baltic States Judges. Similarities and Differences in Jurisprudence" co-financed by the European Commission and the Soros Foundation - Latvia.
Lawyers of Raidla Lejins & Norcous presented the issues concerning the state aid law. Within the framework of the same project a similar seminar on competition law issues will be held on 17 and 18 May, while on 23 April a conference on state aid law will be organized for Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian judges. The speakers at the conference will include German judges and state aid law experts. Uģis Zeltins will participate at the conference with the presentation on recovery of illegal state aid.
18/03/2010 Seminar “Novelties of Case Law in Labour Law: Details Matter”
Raidla Lejins & Norcous conducted the seminar “Novelties of Case Law in Labour Law: Details Matter”. The seminar addressed peculiarities of dealing with the specific issues of labour law, in particular, termination during the probation period, legal grounds for a termination of an employment contract, procedure to be observed when giving the termination notice and consequences of failing to comply with the procedure. The seminar took place on 18 March 2010 and was attended by several dozen managers, in-house counsel and HR managers.
